The National Association of Colored Women (NACW) is the oldest African American organization existing today, if early black religious denominations are excluded. It was founded in 1896 through a merger of the Colored Women's League, of Washington, D.C., and the National Federation of Afro-American Women, of Boston, Massachusetts.
