The Rich Neighbor Policy is a well-researched contribution to the literature on inter-American relations. The author has made effective use of the Brazilian Center for Research and Documentation on Brazilian History and of the Foreign Ministry Archives. In the United States, in addition to State Department files, she has mined the holdings of the Rockefeller Archives Center, especially for the American International Association and the International Basic Economy Corporation. Although the study concentrates on Nelson Rockefeller and Henry Kaiser in Brazil after 1945, the author situates her inquiry in the larger context of United States policy.
