Nokia is set to significantly increase its mobile inventory.
The handset manufacturer has overhauled its mobile home page, nokia.mobi, and is engaged in a pilot mobile ad campaign with newspaper Metro to drive downloads of its Widsets applications.
Nokia.mobi has been extended to feature a range of editorial sections including downloads, products, services and links. It also features three new ad spots, with American Express the first campaign to go live.
Nokia has also begun promoting Widsets via banners across the Metro started placing ads on its Widsets application in April (NMA 10.04.08) and now aims to generate extra traffic.
Susanne Aho, product marketing manager of Widsets for Nokia, said it was important to test the effectiveness of new channels. "This is a pilot campaign with Metro. We're looking closely to see how many users we get," she said.
