Two locally based bargain retailers have joined forces to give local shoppers an even bigger bargain.
San Antonio companies Texas Thrift Store and JEBY Inc. which does business as Dollar Only - recently signed a longterm lease for 55,000 square feet for a combination store aptly known as the Texas Thrift and Dollar Only Store.
The venture will round out the remaining space of a larger, 105,000-square-foot project along Interstate 35 and Walzem in Northeast San Antonio that previously housed homeimprovement outlet Builders Square and later HQ.
Chuck Siegel, who is president of local real estate firm NAI/Rohde, Ottmers & Siegel, represented the owners of Dollar Only and Texas Thrift in the negotiations with the owner of the project, an entity called AT Holdings.
No stranger to the bargain-retail industry himself, Siegel also served as a consultant to the venture.
"I've done a lot of different things," Siegel says. "But I'm particularly excited about this.
In the past, Siegel served as a CEO of 50-Off Stores Inc. and then later as president and CEO of Solo Serve Corp. He joined what was then known as NAI Rohde Realty in 1999.
