SolidWorks mechanical engineering design software is becoming established as the standard for 3D mechanical and product design in New Zealand, according to Alan Coop, Managing Director, Intercad New Zealand.
Intercad (NZ) is the New Zealand distributor of SolidWorks and has just announced the latest release of the product- SolidWorks 97Plus.
"We've been marketing SolidWorks for around a year now," said Mr Coop, "and have been delighted by its rapid acceptance among the mechanical and product design community here.
"We already have over 60 SolidWorks customers with over 120 seats between them, and the use of SolidWorks is also spreading to other industries, for example, one of New Zealand's largest furniture manufacturers has just installed the software.
"As well, many of our leading educational institutions have adopted SolidWorks for use in their programs.
"Manukau Institute of Technology is running special classes two nights a week teaching SolidWorks; Auckland Institute of Technology has included SolidWorks in its Bachelor of Spatial Design course; and Massey University is teaching SolidWorks as part of its Bachelor of Technology program.
