VocalTec Inc. took the wraps off Internet Phone for the Mac, which will let users on Apple Macintosh and PC systems talk to one another over the Internet. Previously, only users on the same platform could converse, according to VocalTec. The Mac version, which will cost $99, will ship later this quarter. VocalTec also announced Internet Phone version 3.1 for Windows, which will let users launch a voice call from a Web page. In addition, the company unveiled plans to deliver an application programming interface that will let software developers embed Internet Phone capabilities into other software applications.
