Just in time for this fall's Internet World in New York City Dec. 9 to 13, Premenos Corp. is preparing to announce a low-priced system for providing access to electronic data interchange (EDI) databases via the Net. We're looking for Premenos to launch a forms-based tool that will make EDI easy to deploy on the Internet. Pricing is expected to be equally populist, well below the $19,990 for the enterprise version of its Templar authentication agent. Such an announcement could lower the barrier of entry for EDI-enabled apps, meaning EDI on the Web wouldn't be confined to giants such as Wal-Mart, FedEx or Fruit of the Loom much longer.
