Bob Bryant has been named chair of TBWA\Canada. In the newly created role, he will oversee all of TBWA\Worldwide's Canadian operations. Housed under the TBWA\Canada banner, they include TBWA\Chiat\Day and digital business solutions firm Communicopia, both of Toronto, the Vancouver and Calgary offices of Bryant Fulton & Shee and Tam-Tam\TBWA in Montreal. Bryant, 58, has been chair and CEO of BFS since TBWA\Worldwide purchased the agency last December. Born and raised in Toronto, he began his career as a copywriter before joining Procter & Gamble. Bryant eventually jumped back to the agency side and worked for West-Can Communications, which merged with Scali McCabe Sloves in 1987. "Bob Bryant is one of the most accomplished and respected leaders in the Canadian advertising and marketing community," says Tom Carroll, president of the Americas for TBWA, in a release. "We're very honoured that he has taken the chairmanship position." Sources say that Bryant will help Carroll pick a replacement for former TBWA\Chiat\Day president and CEO David Fong, who left the agency in September to pursue a new business opportunity.
