Diebold, Incorporated [DBD] last Thursday announced an addition to its Opteva family of automated teller machines (ATMs), the Opteva 740 through-the-wall, drive-up unit. The new drive-up ATM will be introduced this week at The Advisory Group's (TAG) 2003 National Conference in Miami. TAG is a user's organization, which puts Diebold's customers in contact with each other and with Diebold for the purpose of sharing solution approaches to self-service issues and opportunities. Company officials say the Opteva 740 is a versatile, drive-up ATM and can easily be configured in a variety of ways. It can serve as a cash dispenser for fast-cash lanes, an advanced-function ATM or it can be upgraded with full deposit automation functions, allowing financial institutions to deploy the terminal in a way that best meets their needs. The unit makes drive- up banking more convenient and comfortable for the consumer while giving branch personnel a chance to focus more on acquisition and retention related activities. "Opteva 740 meets the needs of financial institutions and other ATM deployers by allowing a broader range of transactions to be completed through the self-service channel," said Danny O'Brien, senior vice president of Global Product Management and Engineering at Diebold. "The diverse functionality of the Opteva 740 not only helps increase ATM revenue opportunities, but also makes the ATM a viable alternative to building and staffing a new branch." In response to the changing needs of financial institutions and consumers, the drive-up Opteva 740 offers exclusive benefits to the global financial industry. It is powered by Agilis, Diebold's open-standard, cross-vendor software platform, and is also supported by Diebold Premier Services. The Opteva 740 was designed with one of the smallest footprints in the industry and provides maximum installation flexibility to accommodate various construction mediums for easy upgrades and replacements.
