NOVELL NETWARE 3.12
It was Novell Corp.'s tried-and-true NetWare 3.12, not newcomer NetWare 4.0, that clinched the top spot in the network-operating-system category of CRN's Vision Awards.
"It's really just a solid product that has been developed over several years, and has been built upon NetWare 3.11 and previous versions," said Bob Young, vice president of marketing, NETWARE products division, Novell, Provo, Utah.
Basic MHS, included in NetWare, provides local delivery of MHS messages for such applications as electronic mail, fax services, forms processing and workflow automation among users on a single NetWare 3.12 server.
In addition, Novell complements Basic MHS with FirstMail, a starter E-mail application that gives DOS and Macintosh users immediate access to the messaging services. Basic MHS supports Novell's NetWare SMF, an interface that works with more than 150 commercial applications, gateways and utilities.
