With a little help from across the country in Redmond, Wash., more than 500 vendors were on hand here at this year's Networld+Interop to display the newest trends in networking.
"Windows 95 is the main event this year in that it will bring TCP/IP not only to large corporations, but also the small offices and homes," said Nick Lippis, president of Strategic Networks Consulting Inc., a research firm in Rockland, Mass. "Personal internetworking is the next wave."
Hummingbird Communications Ltd., Toronto, took flight in a big way at the Interop show. It debuted a new line of NFS connectivity products based on technology it purchased from Beame & Whiteside Inc., and a new "Intranet desktop" called Columbus.
