TAKING ADVANTAGE of the latest mobile processor offering, made possible by Intel's 0.25-micron manufacturing process, Toshiba is introducing the 233MHz Satellite Pro 480CDT as the newest member to its familiar line of Satellite Pro laptops.
The Intel Pentium processor for mobile computers, formerly code-named Tillamook, is not only faster than any current mobile processor, but does so with considerably less power requirements. The chip, like other Intel MMX Pentiums, includes a 32Kbyte onboard cache.
The 480CDT base system comes standard with 32 Mbytes of EDO memory (expandable to 160 Mbytes), a 256-Kbyte L2 cache, and 32-bit PCI bus architecture. Feature enhancements include a 3.9-Gbyte hard drive and a crisp 12.1 active-matrix TFT display powered by a 64bit Chips and Technologies B65555 SVGA graphics controller with 2-Mbyte EDO DRAM memory.
The select bay supports an optional 2-Gbyte hard drive and an optional second lithium-ion battery that can double the amount of battery time. It also can accommodate the floppy drive that comes with the computer.
For communications, a cellular-ready 33.6-Kbps V.34 voice/fax/data modem with V.80 voice conferencing capability is built onboard....
