APPLE MAY BE GOING THROUGH tough times from a marketing standpoint, but the company can still turn out great products, as evidenced by the new Power Macintosh 9600/233.
The 9600/233 is the latest and most powerful of the Power Macintosh systems being shipped by Apple. It is based on the new top-of-the-line 233MHz PowerPC 604e chip and includes a 512-Kbyte Level 2 cache. The unit furnished to the CRN Comdex Test Center had MacOS 7.6.1 pre-installed and configured.
The test system included 64 Mbytes of memory with an astounding nine DIMM slots still open. This wonderful design supports a maximum memory complement of a whopping 768 Mbytes, enough for the most demanding Photoshop or Quark XPress professional.
