WORKERS IN small-office/ home-office environments generally have tight budgets and cramped workspaces. But new multifunction printers provide affordable printing, faxing, copying and scanning, all in the same amount of desk space as a printonly printer.
The Test Center examined two multifunction machines aimed at different price points. Canon and JetFax are the newest vendors to enter this burgeoning market.
The JetFax M930 is a snap to set up and lives up to performance ratings. While Canon's MultiPass L6000 is more or less just as capable as JetFax's M930, the latter supports more users. The price differential between the two products also is hefty. The Canon system is $599, while the JetFax offering is $2,200, almost four times as much.
