BLOOMFIELD COMPUTER SOLUTIONS INC. (BCS) is breaking out of its niche as a regional provider of Hewlett-Packard Co. midrange solutions and instead is making a national play as an enterprise resource planning (ERP) service provider.
The integrator, based here, is leveraging a relationship with The Baan Co., PeopleSoft Inc. and other vendors to offer a pallet of outsourcing services including consulting, design and maintenance of ERP solutions, said Eric Johnson, vice president of professional services at BCS.
"In the ERP space, we are doing more technology consulting, as opposed to implementation consulting," he said. "Our focus is in helping a client design, build and manage infrastructure on which the ERP applications will reside."
BCS's ERP client list includes Mobil Oil, Union Carbide, Kellogg, Proctor & Gamble and Union Camp, Johnson said.
BCS was founded in 1992 and has since become HP's largest Unix reseller. That relationship and focus has fueled a meteoric growth curve the past three years, as it posted revenue of $25 million in 1996 and $60 million in 1997. The...
