WHEN THE NEED ARISES for mass duplication of hard drives, Promise Technology's Octet Pro provides a solution. The product is geared to VARs, OEMs and integrators and allows dozens of desktop and notebook hard drives to be duplicated in a day.
Octet Pro is a hard-drive duplication device for EIDE, IDE and Fast-ATA drives. A maximum of eight target drives can be duplicated simultaneously from a single master, also called the source. Octet Pro provides the flexibility of auto-detecting drive geometry (number of cylinders, heads and sectors) and duplicating onto drives of dissimilar geometry.
Desktop drives are supported with the IDE and power cables provided, while laptop drives need separately purchased adapters.
A PC-AT-style keyboard and a VGA monitor is required to command the intertace. Connecting the hard drives is accomplished via the included IDE cables and power cables.
