Sapient, 3Com and Breakaway forecast losses
Ingram Micro and Oracle last week joined the weakoutlook club.
3Com, Breakaway Solutions and Web integrators Sapient and Primix also issued disappointing earnings forecasts and results.
Ingram Micro issued a first-quarter earnings warning just as it reported beating Wall Street projections for the fourth quarter by 1 cent.
In the fourth quarter, the distributor's net income was $57.9 million, or 39 cents per share, on sales of $8.07 billion, compared with earnings of $75 million on sales of $7.83 billion a year earlier.
For the first quarter of 2001, Ingram Micro forecast sales of $7.3 billion to $7.6 billion, compared with year-ago quarter sales of $7.8 billion. Net income is expected to remain flat at between $22 million and $27 million, or 15 cents to 18 cents per share.
