When Sutter Health, a not-for-profit health-care organization, decided to replace the wireless network at its Santa Cruz, Calif., facility, it chose Cisco Systems' products and a familiar Cisco Premiere Partner, NetXperts.
The wireless solution provider had worked successfully in the past with other Sutter Health affiliates throughout California, so there was no learning curve, said Charlie Muller, information manager at Sutter Health Santa Cruz, which has 10 locations, including eight clinics, a maternity hospital and a Visiting Nurses Association.
Muller said the existing wireless network was not only outdated but also presented security concerns and performance issues, such as an inability to support voice, video and data services.
The health-care industry is one of the early adopters of wireless technology, and NetXperts began investing in a wireless specialization for that vertical several years ago, said Tom Hagin, vice president of sales at the San Ramon, Calif.-based solution provider.
