As businesses of all sizes invest in multimedia conference rooms and home theaters become an increasingly popular feature in many new homes, high-quality projectors are an important item for a solution provider's portfolio. With that in mind, CRN Test Center engineers reviewed two robust projectors from BenQ.
While having a home theater has long been considered impractical, the price of audio and video equipment is steadily dropping. That, coupled with the outcry from home owners for more home automation solutions, means integrators should hop aboard the gravy train and reap the rewards of the digital marketplace.
Engineers evaluated the BenQ PB8220 and PB7100, both of which have excellent image quality and are easy to use. Either projector would be a good fit for a home-theater or small-business installation.
BenQ touts the PB8220 as a home-theater projector. At about 7 pounds, it isn't the lightest projector around, but it'll suffice for the digital home.
The projector measures 12.12 inches x 9.45 inches x 3.74 inches and is housed in a rugged, purple and silver-magnesium case that's lighter than aluminum. Its native resolution is XGA (1,024 x 768), but the PB8220 will automatically scale up from SVGA and scale down from SXGA to fill the screen.
