Name: Steve Schwartz.
Title: President and CEO.
Company: Asyst Technologies, the Fremont-based maker of systems which keep semiconductor wafer chips clean during processing. The 880-person company counts Intel, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing and Applied Materials among its customers and did $259 million in 2003 revenue.
Background: Schwartz spent 14 years at Applied Materials before joining Asyst as senior vice president in January 2001. He was named president and CEO in August 2002.
Education: Bachelor of science, master of science and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from Purdue University. MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
