ORGANIZATION
Name: Audrey Rust.
Title: President.
Organization: Peninsula Open Space Trust.
Mission: To give permanent protection to the beauty, character and diversity of the San Francisco Peninsula landscape for people here now and for future generations.
Founded: 1977.
Milestone: To date, POST has raised $173.6 million and protected more than 50,000 acres of open space. Completing the Vision: Campaign to Save Essential Open Space, 1996-1999, raised $33.4 million - $4.9 million more than the goal to protect 12,569 acres in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. It set the stage for the Saving the Endangered Coast campaign. Launched in 2001, the campaign has a goal of $200 million to protect 20,000 acres of endangered land on the San Mateo Coast POST is set to complete the campaign in December 2005.
Income FY 2003: $17.2 million.
Expense Allocation: 9 percent of revenue to administration, fundraising and management 91 percent to program services.
Corporate support: Funding comes from foundations and private individuals (more than 10,000). Additional funds for land acquisition come from public sources (state and federal governments).
