A Chesterfield-based engineer and entrepreneur is in search of $5 million in venture capital for a mobile anesthesia device he says will save lives in both military and humanitarian campaigns.
John lzuchukwu, president and chief executive of Core Devices Inc., said the 27-pound anesthesia machine allows a greater degree of portability than anything else on the market.
"The machine can fit in a backpack or rugged container," said lzuchukwu, who was as a research and design technician for Mallinckrodt Inc. before forming Core Devices in October 2001. "It's ideal for the military, outpatient surgery centers, rural and remote hospital setting, as well as developing countries where access to infrastructure has been problematic."
