WEST DALLAS - California-based G.I. Trucking Co. is pulling out of the Dallas-area market, but its operation and coverage area will be picked up by an affiliated company, Virginia-based Estes Express Lines.
Estes recently purchased an undisclosed amount of G.I.'s stock, which was sold by Arkansas Best Corp. (Nasdaq: ABFS) as part of a management buyout.
The 50-year-old G.I. has been serving Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas from nine terminal locations in those states. Now, family owned Estes - which has been in the Dallas area just a couple years - plans to expand its presence throughout the region.
