A $1-billion underground automated people mover, a $670-million terminal, a fourth runway, a new air traffic control tower, and $ 70 million in access roadway improvements should keep Dulles International Airport, outside Washington, D.C., full of construction personnel for the next six years.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has launched a $3.2billion program at Dulles, one of the fastest-growing airports in the United States. Last year the airport served 25 percent more passengers than in 1998, according to the authority, which this year expects to serve more than 20 million passengers.
