1929: Maurice Coleman founds Alarm Device Manufacturing Co. (ADEMCO) as a sideline to Progress Electric Co., an electrical supply company in Brooklyn, N.Y.
1953: Nat Verger becomes Coleman's partner.
1960: ADEMCO becomes a public company and is one of the smallest companies on the American Stock Exchange, with sales of $2 million.
1963: Pittsburgh Street Railways (later Pittway Corp.), buys ADEMCO for $5.5 million. Leo Guthart joins ADEMCO as VP of sales.
1971: ADEMCO/Pittway purchases BRK Electronics and embarks on...
