HOLMDEL - The preservation and reuse of an architectural landmark, the former Bell Labs building, is taking another step forward, with the publication of a new charrette book and a local developer's plans to convert the complex into a mixed-use community.
In January, a coalition comprising the New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects and seven preservation and landscape organizations published the final report of a three-day charrette held in April 2008 to develop proposals for reusing Bell Labs, the site of numerous technological achievements in the telecommunications industry.
