ER: How relevant do you think is the Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (QUEST)? MSS: QUEST is not only an engineering university but also a science and technology university. This an added domain that many people are not informed of. We received the charter of the university in 1996.
This institution exists since 1973 when it was Mehran University and then became university’s college when the university seat was transferred to Jamshoro. We again became a college and ultimately declared a university in 1996. Since then this university is functioning and have got many acknowledgments and recognitions.
Our students emerged at the top in Pakistan Air Force at a time when admissions there were very restricted. Our engineers are less than any other university. It is teamwork here that we have been successful to achieve after I tookover the university as Vice Chancellor. I have an honor to be a graduate of this university. This is my almamater.
This university had faced many issues but with cooperation I have been able to get, has now created a sense of ownership in the institution.We are trying to change the mindset prevalent here. For such an end, we need to take initiatives that we are doing that. What is the level of ownership that you have created here for the first time I guess as this university has been struggling for long? We cannot measure it but the majority of the people are devoted and they wanted to pursue the right path. I always believe in the policy of reward and punishment.
