Less obvious than other cancers, often advanced when finally detected
EAST GREENWICH, R.I. - The overall five-year survival rate for patients with melanoma of the foot and ankle is significantly lower than for those with melanomas found on other areas of the body, according to researchers here.
The study, published in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, also suggests the incidence of primary foot melanoma may be increasing along with all other types of skin cancer.
