This week the grape harvest is in full swing in nearly every wine-producing country in the Northern Hemisphere. It is also the perfect time for restaurateurs and their service staffs to benefit from a winery visit. Seeing wine making in progress is an experience few servers ever forget.
However, that just isn't feasible -- financially or logistically - for most restaurants.
A compromise that works, however, is wine videos. Kevin Taylor, partner at New York's Rusty Staub's, agrees: "Video tapes add another dimension to wine training. They can help keep servers motivated and interested in their jobs, which is essential if you want to keep them selling your food and beverages."
