NEW YORK--Actor Wilford Brimley has slapped Hardee's Food Systems Inc. with a $30 million lawsuit, claiming his likeness was inappropriately used by the hamburger chain in 17 commercials.
Brimley cited the company in Federal District Court in Manhattan, where the agency that created the spots is based.
The ads were created by Hardee's then-agency, Ogilvy & Mather.
Brimley's attorney, Daniel Kornstein, said the company is charged with one federal and two state claims.
The suit contends the chain violated the federal statute Lanhem Act, which prohibits causing consumer confusion through endorsements. The...
