Computers are taking over. Everywhere you look the world has become digital. This is no less true in the recording field where the price of a digital console is getting closer to the price of a good pair of sneakers. But in this age of perfect information we still crave the imperfect. This is probably because we are imperfect creatures. Perfection is as foreign to our ears as a snowball in Fiji. That is why we will always love our vintage gear. Why we love to befuddle those perfect digits with the insertion of a classic tube compressor. And why we still reach for the classic microphones.
