Just like Christmas morning! AKG sent me six boxes of wireless microphone paraphernalia that really has a great deal to offer. The heart of the system is the SR4000 UHF receiver that has 1,200 channels selected from six bands that operate over a 30 MHz bandwidth on carrier frequencies that are between 650 and 863 MHz. Ya get all that? Here is what separates it from most if not all of the competition. The transmitters and the receiver are factory optimized to work with each other. The SR4000 is a true diversity type that utilizes two completely separate antennae, receiver and demodulator sections that are operating at all times. The Auto Setup function finds usable frequency groups and locks them in automatically. Additionally, there is the Environment Scan function that analyzes the UHF environment ensuring that the channel selected is interference free. Not exclusive to AKG but one of my favorites is a transmitter battery status readout on the receiver. The SR4000 uses a Pilot Tone Decoder Unit that takes the information out of the Pilot Tone's data stream. This system also allows for an automatic Tone Code Squelch that mutes the audio output if spurious signals appear. Setting of the old-fashioned but proven manual squelch will overrule the TCSQ.
