Whole Foods Market will anchor a 1 million-square-foot development in Chevy Chase.
New England Development is building Wisconsin Place, which will include 430 apartments, a 305,000-square-foot office building, a community center, nearly 1,800 underground parking spaces and 125,000 square feet of retail including the 50,000-square-foot Whole Foods.
The eight-acre block is bounded by Wisconsin, Western and Willard avenues, and Friendship Boulevard.
Hecht's, which currently fronts Wisconsin Avenue, will move to spacier digs on the same block. Construction on the new, three-level, 180,000-square-foot store is expected to begin this spring and take about two years, says David Gilmore, a vice president of New England Development (www.ne development. com) in Newton, Mass.
