After graduating from the University of Kansas in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in journalism, Richard Oatman took his first job at KFDI radio.
He's been with the company that owns KFDI ever since.
"Staying with the same thing at the same place, that's pretty rare these days," Oatman says. "For me, its been an achievement."
Today, Oatman, 32, is sales manager for 104.5 The Fox.
Following Ol' Mike's footsteps
Oatman's first radio experience came by way of his father, who was known on radio as Ol' Mike Oatman. Among many other broadcast activities, Ol' Mike hosted a KFDI radio call-in show, Cracker Barrel.
"I started filling in for him on the (Cracker Barrel) show, found that I enjoyed it, and when he retired, I kept the show going," Oatman says.
