Illinois grill maker plans to continue manufacturing the most popular Ducane models
COLUMBIA, S.C. - After several rounds of bidding in a bankruptcy court here, Weber-Stephens agreed on March 4 to purchase Ducane Gas Grills for $13.6 million. The Palatine, Ill., manufacturer will continue making Ducane grills, a higher-end product sold primarily through specialty retailers and independent channels.
"There is equity in the [Ducane] brand," said Weber-Stephens' executive vp Mike Kempster Sr. "It will be kept as a separate label, and we will use it strategically, as the market dictates."
