This volume contains a trove of photographs and maps of the arc of the Himalayas, stretching from northern Pakistan to the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It is, in the best sense of the term, an introduction to the natural and social dynamics of this complex region. The accomplished geographer and photographer David Zurick has captured stunning images of the natural and human landscape of this precipitous terrain, and the highly skilled cartographer Julsun Pacheco has produced visually compelling maps that synthesize a wealth of geological, geographic, and demographic information for the entire sweep of the Himalayas.
