Sue Mingay leaves the newly merged loan syndication team at Royal Bank of Scotland today (Friday) and will start work at BNP Paribas in a few weeks' time.
She will report to Julian Van Kan, head of loans syndication, as part of the distribution team.
She had previously reported to Declan McGrath, head of the loan syndication team at Greenwich NatWest, having worked at NatWest for 9-l/2 years.
ING Barings has appointed a new head of Americas for its New York office. David Duffy, the company's London based global chief operating officer, will replace Mike Petrycki from next month. Petrycki, who has been with the company for 17 years, will be taking some time off before deciding on his next move.
Duffy, who joined from Goldman Sachs in 1998, will continue as chief global operating officer and remains on the executive committee. He is currently in New York meeting senior management and will be based permanently in New York from Wednesday 12 July.
Apart from building ING Barings' North American and Latin American franchises, Duffy will look for more ways to leverage off ING's other business groups. He will report to chairman and CEO David Robins.
Winterflood Securities, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, Bernard L Madoff Investment Securities, Commerzbank, Lang & Schwarz Wertpapierhandel, Enskilda Securities, and Van der Moolen Holding have signed letters of intent to provide markets for the Jiway pan-European stock exchange.
"They believe this is the right way to go forward in these types of market," said Jiway senior vice president Michele Townsend. "We are looking for people who have really good coverage across the board - these are leaders in their markets and have the financial and technological capability to meet our requirements."
They will trade on Nasdaq, and the Italian and Swiss markets.
Credit Suisse First Boston has made Richard Balarkas global head of electronic trading for the equity division. He will be equities representative for CSFB Next, the e-commerce initiative. Balarkas will be supported in the US by Mark Conforti, who is responsible for client connectivity.
Balarkas will report to George Coleman, head of equity sales, Mike Clark, head of equity trading, Martin Newson, head of European equities, and Bob Jain, head of global index arbitrage and quantitative trading.
