Gander Mountain stores climb into Buffalo

Gander Mountain, a sports store that devotes itself entirely to the hunting, fishing and camping markets, is close to making its first entry into Western New York.

Gander Mountain confirmed it is nearly finished with negotiations for two stores one in the Northtowns and another in the Southtowns. Both stores are expected to open next year.

Real estate sources said Gander Mountain is eyeing a 28,000-square-foot store in Orchard Park's Quaker Crossing shopping center and a similar sized store in Amherst's Sheridan Center Plaza, both of which are owned by area developer Gerald Buchheit.
