This season, black is indeed magical-at least at the fragrance counter, where some of the season's most important launches are packaged in sleek ebony bottles rather than ho-hum transparent glass. "Black is the ultimate in elegance, it's chic and classic," says Leatrice Eiseman, director of the Pantone Color Institute. "It also says power. When you see it, there's no way of ignoring it."
