Dawn Eggleston is co-founder and a partner in Moonlight Design Group, a graphic design firm recognized for its logos, identity programs, annual reports, promotional materials and other products. The firm also handles Web site design, packaging concepts and brand imaging. In 2001, a tough year for the graphics industry, Moonlight Design increased revenue by 8%. Sales have increased roughly 60% from the firm's first full year of business in 1997.
When First Union Corp. restructured in the summer of 1996, the company eliminated its human resources marketing and communications department and with it, Dawn Eggleston's job.
But Eggleston was prepared for a career upset.
She and a colleague, Karen Hunter, had been moonlighting at night and on weekends in graphic arts, and they decided to follow their entrepreneurial impulse. The Moonlight Design Group went fulltime that summer.
