Abstract

[...]the aim of this study was to analyze the predictive capacity of new anthropometric indices, such as the ABSI, BRI, and CUN-BAE, in order to identify MetS in the Polish population and compare their usefulness to that of traditionally applied measures such as BMI, WHtR, and %BF. 2. [...]education is comparatively easy to measure in self-administered questionnaires, garners a high response rate, and is relevant to people regardless of age or working circumstances, unlike many other indicators of socioeconomic position. According to the ROC analyses conducted for the MetS definition according to the IDF, the largest AUCs in men were observed for the WHtR and CUN-BAE indicators (0.764 and 0.760, respectively), whereas in women, the largest AUCs were for WHtR (0.758) and BRI (0.748) (Table 5, Figure 1). [...]the anthropometric indices of the participants were calculated on the basis of actual measurements and were not self-reported. Because the anthropometric cut-off points could be different for men and women, statistical analyses were performed separately for men and women.
