section." He has 91 publications, 18 of which are on teaching methodology issues and 73 are about scientific research. He is a holder of 2 patents on engineering inventions. He is the author of a CD “Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Graphics,” which also has an Internet version for implementation in on-line education. In 2000-2004 he developed complete sets of visual aid materials on transparent foils in such courses as descriptive geometry and engineering graphics, astronomy, mathematics, and regional geography. He supervised 35 engineering research projects on computer graphics and automated design of machinery parts and industrial equipment. The results of these projects were implemented in 22 enterprises of the Russian Federation and the Ukraine.
SOFIA A. PECHORSKAYA . has been working from 1998 to 2004 as an instructor and then as a lecturer in the structural mechanics division of Architectural and Civil Engineering Department of Southern-Ural State University (SUSU). She is a Ph. D. candidate conducting research about some special issues of mat footings of tall buildings. She has 7 publications based on her thesis research and 6 articles concerned with teaching methodology. In 2004 she won an extremely competitive fellowship, the “Junior Faculty Development Program” (JFDP) established and sponsored by the State Department of the United States of America for university faculty members of several former Soviet republics and some Balkan countries. As a JFDP-fellow she is spending the 2004-2005 academic year at the University of Wyoming observing context and teaching methodology on undergraduate and graduate levels of different civil engineering courses and developing new curricula for SUSU.
