THIS VOLUME indudes ten papers and a catalogue of seventy-four pieces remaining from the original Diniacopoulos collection of antiquities now held in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts on long-term loan from the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. The first paper gives the history of the collection; the other nine are studies of individual pieces or groups of objects. The papers were presented as part of an exhibition and conference on the collection held in Montreal on December 4, 2002. A Preface, an "ils ne comprennent pas," a Foreword, and the Catalogue are given in both French and English; of the ten papers, seven are in English and three in French.
C. Epstein's opening paper provides interesting details about Vincent and Olga Diniacopoulos's lives, but fails to provide information about when and where items in their collection were acquired. Nor do we learn whether such information exists in the family archives at Concordia University.
