Audiovox is broadening its distribution strategy as the booming category of mobile video takes the vendor's name into an expanded range of retail this month, including several chains in the Progressive Retailers Organization (PRO Group).
According to Tom Malone, Audiovox's group VP for mobile electronics, Dow Stereo and Magnolia Hi-Fi are scheduled to carry a mobile video lineup from Audiovox starting this month.
"We're not selling the entire PRO Group, but we are selling certain highprofile independents," Malone said of the recent deals that have been secured - triggered to some degree, he granted, by the dawn of mobile video. "That has been our entree into the new distribution channel."
