Religious broadcaster Brian Larson has resurrected the Capital Region's first UHF television station and is ready to take it to a higher power.
Larson's Buskirk-based Northeast Gospel Broadcasting put WNGN/Channel 35 on the air in Roy last fall. but it has been operating at a modest 10,000 watts. By the end of March, the station will upgrade to 50,000 watts. giving it a reach that xill extend from Glens Falls to Peekskill.
WNGN's programming, a mix of old movies, classic television and conservative Christian shows from the Family Network, also simulcasts on WNGX/Channel 42, a 1,000-watt station in Schenectady. Larson also is in the process of getting approval to boost that station to 50,000 watts, and may then give it its own programming.
WNGN had broadcast on Channel 26 for nearly 10 years before moving to Channel 35. The switch was necessary because Albany ABC affiliate WTEN/Channel 10...
