Kim Perez is the author of You Can be a Woman Meteorologist (2002, Cascade Pass, Inc., 38 pp., paperbound, $7.00, ISBN 1-880599-57-0), part of a series "that emphasizes the value of science and mathematical studies by depicting real women whose careers provide inspirational role models." Formerly an observer and forecaster in the U.S. Air Force, where she was the first woman in the Severe Weather Section, Perez is presently an on-camera meteorologist for The Weather Channel. We asked her some questions about the experience of writing this book.
