Issuance of more securities brings greater demand for CMBS information.
GMAC Commercial Mortgage Corp. (GMACCM) and its subsidiary, GMAC Institutional Advisors LLC (GIA), have acquired GRECAM, a real estate information service that could increase liquidity in France's commercial real estate markets.
GRECAM provides market surveys and information for developers, investors, asset managers, financial institutions and government agencies.
"It's part of our European expansion,"said Jim Titus, senior vice president and managing director of GIA in Horsham, Pa.
GMACCM has a major presence in Ireland and continues to expand in Great Britain.
Though Europe has been feeling the effects of the global recession, French real estate markets remain in relatively good shape, according to Titus.
He pointed out that the performance in top French markets do not compare to San Francisco and the Silicon Valley in which vacancies shot up following the dotcom collapse.
"There has been some new construction," Titus said. "Vacancies crept up a little but, all in all, [France] is pretty strong."
