Do your research, build a solid vehicle, assemble a superior support team, and then put your foot on the gas until you reach cruising speed. That's been the operating strategy of the Petroleum Human Resources Council of Canada (Petroleum HR Council) as it has steered the Petroleum Competency Program (PCP) that began in 1995.
Funded by the Government of Canada's Sector Council Program, the PCP certifies workers in several petroleum industry occupational groupings, including oil and gas transportation services, snubbing services, well testing services, slickline services, cased hole services, and seismic field operations. PCP certification is based on standards of competence developed and validated by the petroleum industry. Recognized standards of competence keep workers safe and skilled, enhance corporate profitability, strengthen industry's reputation, and, with improved safety records, instill greater public confidence in the industry.
