Duplo International founder, David Greenhalgh, died on June 8 at his home in Marbella. David was decorated for service as a Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers during World War 2 and went on to study for an MA in Economics at Cambridge University. He was the first person to import Toshiba calculators and copiers into the UK in the 1960s. Mr Greenhalgh then moved into the graphic arts and founded Ordibel UK in 1974, representing the Belgian manufacturer's collating product range. In 1985, he was appointed EMEA distributor for Japan's Duplo Corporation. David was pivotal in developing Duplo International as an international company with distribution rights for over one-third of the world and a turnover of pounds 23m. David Greenhalgh was active in the company until his retirement in 1996.
