Pride in the rebuilt productAs chairman of Kellar Ltd, I was deeply grieved by the remarks attributed to Mr Booker of Close Asset Finance (Printing World, March 27), that gave the impression that Sondhi Kellar was no longer in business. For his information and yours, Kellar Ltd, which trades under the name of Sondhi Kellar, has just reported a very satisfactory financial year and has an absolutely excellent order book and cash position. As you know Sondhi Kellar plc, like many other secondhand dealers, such as Dornier, had been seriously hurt by Heidelberg's pricing policy of the late 1990s and forced into administration. The business was then snapped up by a number of major institutional investors, but unlike Dornier, still operates from the same premises with largely the same people, same equipment and the same total commitment to engineering excellence. Indeed the ex-managing director of Dornier, John Roadnight is now a non-executive director of Kellar Ltd.In the last 15 months, the number of high quality, late model sheetfed and web presses bearing the Quantum tag has considerably increased. Business this year is very good with a number of major projects in hand and sufficient orders prebooked to keep the Company busy until Christmas. Relationships with Heidelberg and the other manufacturers are good and there is, in fact, mutual respect. I think anyone who knows me will believe I would not be encouraging and supporting Steve Kellar and his team if I thought for a moment that they were doing anything other than a straight and effective job for the long term good of the printing industry and its suppliers.Any healthy market requires fair and free competition. We are quite sure that Heidelberg will indeed do its best to meet the highest quality standards with its used products but they will remain only one of a number of dedicated suppliers, many of whom have a long and illustrious record already established and whom I assure you will continue to provide an attractive source of supply of late model Heidelberg equipment.Quite why it was reported that Mr Booker said that HUE was the only ray of hope I do not know - but he said it and it needs to be retracted and corrected very clearly and forcibly. Not only in the interests of Sondhi Kellar, its customers and staff but for the sake of the reputation of both Close Asset, your publication and any other dedicated engineering companies who take a great pride in their rebuilt product.Tom Pindar OBE DL, Chairman, Kellar Ltd, 59 Stanley Road, Whitefield, ManchesterScotsys for ScotlandIn News in Brief (Printing World, March 27) you mentioned that Scitex had recently appointed an additional reseller to Scotsys Computer Systems for the printing market in Scotland. The article indicated that the second reseller "had stronger links with the actual printers in Scotland" than Scotsys Computer Systems. We would like to point out that we have been in the printing business for over 18 years, specialising in all aspects of the graphics business. The company has built up strong, strategic relationships with Apple, Adobe, Scitex and has recently added Xerox digital press solutions to its print and graphics related products.Scotsys achieved a #5m turnover in the graphics market alone, with a #15m turnover in total last year, which indicates our great strength and expertise in the graphic market place.Pat Docherty, Sales director, Scotsys Computer Systems, The Apple Centre, Earn Avenue, Righead Industrial Estate, Bellshill, ScotlandYour April FoolI liked your iGTO (Printing World, last week). Is the announcement in the Pershke Price Service booklet about the first 64- page press another April Fool?I ask this as Jarrolds had a 64-page Gemini machine in the 1980s. If not an April Fool, I assume this is a matter for the Advertising Standards Authority. With regards to you Printing World and nit picking accuracy.Nicholas Russell, Address supplied
